The Aldabra giant tortoise is currently classified as a Vulnerable species. The Aldabra Atoll, where this species comes from, is protected by the Seychelles Islands Foundation, where conservation breeding programmes are in place. Our group of six giant tortoises were confiscated by Customs from an illegal importation and arrived at Paignton back in 1986.

How do I adopt a giant tortoise?

First choose the adoption package you wish to purchase frm the options below and then make your animal selection.

Adoptions apply to the species rather than individual animals. This is because some of our animals may move to other zoos as part of breeding programmes. If your adopted species moves, we will advise you and you will be given the opportunity to transfer your adoption to another species.

Please note: Our adoption gift packs are only available for UK delivery.
