The zebra finch is native to most of Australia and Indonesia.
Their diet consists of seeds, plants and insects.
Only the males sing and they learn their songs from their surroundings. The species lives in loose colonies of up to 350 individuals.
Breeding is initiated by rainfall. 5 to 6 eggs will hatch after 2 to 3 weeks and chicks will fledge after 3 weeks.
