Come and help us celebrate World Giraffe Day, and the birthday of Janica, our oldest giraffe!

World Giraffe Day is coming up on Saturday 21 June 2025, and we are inviting visitors to come and help us celebrate!
The international celebration coincides with a big day for one of the all-female herd of Rothschild’s Giraffes at the zoo – Janica, the oldest of the group, will be turning 20 years old, a tremendous age for an animal which usually has a life expectancy of 10 – 15 years in the wild.
To celebrate, we will be holding a birthday party for her, along with special giraffe-themed activities and talks so that everyone can join in on the fun!
- Celebrate Janica the giraffe’s 20th birthday at 1PM at the Giraffe enclosure*
- Play the new giraffe game at 12:15 – 12:45 and 3PM – 3:30PM at the Lakeside Trike
- Come and do some free craft activities in Wild With Us between 11AM and 2PM
*or inside the Giraffe House if weather is poor
